Mookaite is suitable for making beads, for tumbling, for carving, and for making into a host of other products that are generally fashioned out of semi-precious gemstones. Mookaite is also ideal for knapping , but usually requires a little heat treatment prior to knapping. Although for this purpose the rough requires careful selection because, as with almost all natural rocks/stones, Mookaite does have cracks, soft spots, healed fractures and the like.
